What is MyReportComments?

MyReportComments is a browser-based tool that generates unique, warm, professionally phrased report comments for South African teachers — in under three seconds per learner.

Instead of staring at a blank page at 11pm, you select a few criteria from dropdowns and the tool produces a polished first draft. You refine it, copy it, and move on to the next child.

Getting started

The free version opens immediately — no login or card required. Here is how to begin:

Open the tool Go to myreportcomments.com and click Try free — 10 comments. The tool opens instantly in your browser with no download required.

Add your class list Enter each learner's name into the sidebar once. The tool remembers them for the whole session. On paid plans, the list persists across devices between terms.

Select a learner Click any name in the sidebar to open that learner's criteria panel. You are now ready to generate their comment.

Free users receive 10 comments. No card is required to start. Each generated comment uses one credit. Upgrade to Starter (30), Standard (100), or Pro Annual (unlimited) at any time — credits never expire.

Generating a comment

For each learner, fill in the criteria panel — it takes around 15 seconds. Then hit Generate.

Academic Performance Select the learner's overall academic level — Excellent, Satisfactory, or Needs Improvement.

Working to Potential Indicate whether they work consistently, sometimes, or rarely to their full ability.

Peer Relationships Choose how the learner interacts with classmates — Very Well, Well, or Could Improve.

Behaviour Select their general classroom conduct — Excellent, Good, or Needs Attention.

Subjects — excelled & needs focus Type the subjects where they shine, and those that need more effort. These appear naturally in the generated comment.

Sport, Pronoun & Length Set the learner's sport participation level, correct pronoun (He / She / They), and preferred comment length — Short, Medium, or Detailed.

Click Generate A polished, professional, positively-phrased comment appears in under three seconds. Even comments for learners who need support are framed warmly and constructively.

Editing & reshuffling

The generated comment is a first draft — always yours to refine. You have two ways to adjust it before copying:

Reshuffle a single sentence Click any sentence in the generated comment to regenerate just that line. The rest stays exactly as it is. Use this when one sentence doesn't quite land.

Edit directly Click anywhere in the text area and type your own changes. The comment becomes fully editable — make any adjustments before copying it to your school's reporting system.

Reshuffling uses no credits. Only the initial Generate action uses one credit. Reshuffle and edit as many times as you need at no additional cost.

Exporting your comments

Once you have generated and refined comments for your whole class, export everything with one click.

Complete each learner Work through each name in the sidebar. A tick appears next to learners whose comments are ready. Return to any comment and adjust it before exporting.

Click Export all comments Find the export button in the sidebar. Your full class list downloads as a formatted spreadsheet — one row per learner, ready to paste directly into your school's system.

Common questions

Will the comments sound generic or AI-written?
No. Every comment is built from professionally written template variants, personalised by your exact inputs. The goal is language that sounds like it came from a thoughtful teacher — because the criteria come from you. Every comment is also yours to edit before copying.
Can the same comment appear for two learners in my class?
Extremely unlikely. Nine criteria × three options per criterion plus free-text subjects produces thousands of distinct combinations. The 3-month memory system (paid plans) also actively tracks recently used wording and avoids repeating it — even across a class of 30.
What happens to my learner data?
The free version runs entirely in your browser — no learner data is ever sent to a server. The web app uses Supabase (POPIA compliant) for secure cloud storage. Your data is never shared or sold.
Does it work for Foundation Phase through High School?
Yes. Language is calibrated to work across all grades using CAPS-aligned terminology. Comments adjust in tone and vocabulary based on the grade band you select.
Do I need to install anything?
Nothing at all. MyReportComments runs in your browser on any device — Mac, Windows, iPad, or Chromebook. No download, no app store, no installation. Just open myreportcomments.com and start.
Do credits expire?
Credits never expire. Buy a pack when report season hits and use them across as many sessions as you need. There are no monthly fees on Starter or Standard packs.

What is recorded for every support request

Reference no. A unique ticket number emailed to you automatically on submission.
Name & email Used to respond and to link the ticket to your account if you are a paid user.
Issue type Billing, technical problem, feature request, or general query — used to route the ticket correctly.
Description Your description of the issue. The more detail provided, the faster we can help.
Submitted at Date and time stamped automatically at submission. Used to measure response time targets.
Status Open → In progress → Resolved. You are emailed at each stage change.
